Meeting Memorial for Lupe

Meeting House 4:15 - 5 PM

Meeting Memorial for Lupe - We are holding a memorial after the community event. We invite all of Lupe’s family, students and friends to gather in the Meeting house at 4:15. We will begin with a period of silence. After we have settled, individuals are welcome to rise and speak as they feel called, to honor Guadalupe Montalvo.

On December 23, 2022, we lost our great teacher and collaborator, the woodworker/inventor Guadalupe Montalvo. "Lupe" taught us all so much. He collaborated in workshops, classes and camps for over 10 years, assisted by his amazing wife Florencia Montalvo. Under Lupe’s patient guidance, students were empowered and entertained while learning to use tools and raw materials to make toys from scratch. Lupe's students made their own kites, sea shell drills, Mexican folk toys, toy chain-saws, tiny houses and record players with records that actually played!. We once constructed a Penny Arcade complete with handmade pinball machines and a miniature golf course. Lupe had unlimited energy and enthusiasm for teaching and creative projects. He planned to be at this event. His workbench was covered with wooden angels he was making for the WAL community. Please come and celebrate Lupe’s love for making things with us.
